Bilingual Talent Africa ("BTA", "we", "us", or "our") is a bilingual talent marketplace based in Nairobi, Kenya. We operate a self-service platform at bilingualtalentafrica.com where employers can browse bilingual professional profiles, listen to French and English audio introductions, and purchase access to candidates' full CVs and contact details.

2. Data We Collect

We collect two categories of personal data depending on your relationship with BTA:

From Corporate Buyers:

• Name and job title

• Company name and business email address

• Billing information (processed securely; card details are never stored by BTA)

• Location data used to determine checkout currency

• Transaction history and unlocked profile records

From Candidates (Hub applicants):

• Full name, email address, phone number, city, and country

• CV and professional background information

• Languages spoken

• Profile photo

• French and English audio introductions submitted by the candidate

• Career preferences and other information provided as part of the profile

3. How We Use Your Data

We use personal data only for the purposes for which it was collected:

For Corporate Buyers:

• To process Unlock transactions and deliver access to purchased content

• To manage your account and transaction history on the platform

• To determine your checkout currency based on your location

• To respond to support enquiries

• To comply with our legal and financial obligations

For Candidates:

We use your information to:

• Create and publish your BTA profile
• Display your professional profile in our marketplace
• Allow employers to preview your profile and audio introductions
• Provide your CV and contact details only to employers who purchase access to your profile
• Communicate with you regarding your profile and account
• Improve and maintain the BTA platform

4. Who Can See Your Information

4.1  To help employers evaluate candidates before making contact, the following information is publicly visible as part of a candidate's BTA profile:

• Profile photo
• Professional summary
• Work experience
• Skills
• Languages
• French and English audio introductions

This information is displayed so employers can review a candidate's profile before deciding whether to purchase access to their full details.

4.2  A candidate's CV, email address, phone number, and other direct contact information are not publicly visible.

These details are only made available to employers who purchase access to that specific candidate's profile through the BTA platform.

4.3  Buyers may share unlocked candidate information internally within their own organization for recruitment and hiring purposes. Buyers may not share candidate information with external third parties or use it for any purpose other than evaluating and contacting candidates for employment opportunities.

4.4  BTA does not sell, rent, or otherwise transfer candidate personal data to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

5. Data Retention

• Candidate profiles remain in the BTA Catalogue for as long as the candidate's profile is active. Candidates may request removal of their profile and personal data at any time by contacting us.

• Buyer transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years in accordance with Kenyan financial record-keeping requirements.

• Candidate profiles and audio introductions are retained for as long as the profile remains active on the BTA marketplace. Candidates may request removal of their profile and personal data at any time, subject to applicable legal obligations.

6. Data Security

BTA implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Payment transactions are processed through secure trusted third-party payment providers. BTA does not store card details.

While we take data security seriously, no platform can guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law.

7. Your Rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data BTA holds about you

• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data

• Request deletion of your personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations

• Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the legal basis

• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya

8. Cookies

The BTA platform uses essential cookies to operate the e-commerce checkout and maintain session security. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. By using the platform, you consent to the use of essential cookies.

9. Third-Party Services

BTA uses Odoo as its e-commerce and platform infrastructure provider. Payment processing is handled by third-party payment processors. These providers have their own privacy policies and BTA is not responsible for their data practices. We share only the minimum data necessary for these services to function.

10. Changes to This Policy

BTA may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on the platform with an updated effective date. Continued use of the platform following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
